Townsend Birdsong - Born and raised at camp (her parents built and ran High Rocks for the first 30 years), Townsend has camping in her blood.  A graduate of UNC- Greensboro in Nursing, horseback riding is her specialty.  The year 2010 marks the twenty-third summer the Birdsong's have directed High Rocks, and the sixth summer that their son, Mark, has gone off to be a camp counselor (at Boy Scout camp) for the summer!

The Associate Directors:

Don Gentle is entering his eighteenth summer at High Rocks and began year-round employment in October of 1995. Don has served as Paddling Director, Program Director, and Assistant Director. He has directed the fall LEAP programs since their inception. Don’s computer expertise has kept us in the 21st century. Don has a Master's degree in physical education from Ohio University.

Elizabeth "Zoob" Gentle is entering her nineteenth summer at High Rocks and began year-round employment in November of 1997. She has served as Swimming Director, Program Director, and Assistant Director. Zoob has been responsible for staff recruitment and hiring and is a major reason we have such a quality staff year after year. Zoob's graduated from Presbyterian College with a math major. No wonder she is such a good program director! The Gentle's children, Grace (6 years) and Isabelle (4 years), are adorable additions to the High Rocks family.
