Rock climbing is one of the more popular activities at High Rocks. Campers begin by learning about the basic knots, climbing equipment, and safety procedures. Basic safety instruction is followed by lessons on climbing technique at our 52-foot climbing tower. All climbing activities take place under the supervision of our experienced climbing staff. | |
We are fortunate to have a place for beginners to experience real rock at a collection of boulders called High Rocks, just a few minutes hike from main camp. As their skills progress, campers climb at Looking Glass Rock in nearby Pisgah National Forest and numerous other climbing areas in the Southeast. Through our trips and in-camp lessons, the climbing program fosters personal growth by creating a supportive environment in which campers can overcome the mental and physical challenges associated with rock climbing. Operations on National Forest System Lands are authorized under Special Use Permit by the Pisgah National Forest. |
