Climbing Director, Camp
High Rocks, Cedar Mountain, NC
Camp High Rocks,
a private boys camp in Western North Carolina, has director
opening for it's summer rock climbing program. Director
must be experienced in teaching rock climbing, backpacking,
and related skills. We run an intensive program that requires
traditional lead climbing experience and prior program experience
leading trips. Our program runs about 6 trips a week,
each trip is anywhere from one to four days in length. Climbing
areas we use include Looking Glass, Cedar Rock, Table Rock,
Stone Mountain (NC), Moore's Wall, and the New River Gorge.
Climbing experience on these rocks is preferred. A majority
of our backpacking trips utilize the trails in Pisgah National
Forest.
Responsibilities:
Lead, train and, model a safe and enjoying climbing program
with a focus on skill building. Oversee a group of 7-8
staff. Schedule and organize outgoing trips. Instruct
climbing at our indoor climbing wall, outdoor climbing tower
and our climbing areas near camp. Lead backpacking trips and
climbing trips up to four days in length.
Qualifications:
At least 21 years of age, traditional lead climbing experience
and prior program leadership experience.
Benefits: From $320-$450 per week for the nine week season
and one week of orientation, depending on experience and qualifications.
Room, board and laundry are included. Training in late May.

Instructors must be experienced in Rock Climbing, Backpacking,
and related skills. Climbing areas we use include Looking Glass,
Cedar Rock, Table Rock, Stone Mountain (NC), Moore's Wall, and
the New River Gorge. Climbing experience on these rocks is preferred.
A majority of our backpacking trips utilize the trails in Pisgah
National Forest.
Responsibilities:
Instruct climbing at our indoor climbing wall, outdoor climbing
tower and our climbing areas near camp. Lead backpacking trips
and climbing trips up to four days in length. Cabin counselor
for group of 6 boys.
Qualifications:
At least 19 years of age or rising college sophomore, climbing
and hiking experience.
Benefits: From $250 to $400 per week for the nine week
season, depending on experience and qualifications. Room, board
and laundry are included. Training courses available in late May.
