Give the Gift of Camp
December 3, 2015 by Woody Noland

As we enter the holiday season and enjoy the foods, lights, and family, it is a perfect time to think about people and places that have impacted us in a positive way. For many, Camp High Rocks holds a special place in our lives as a time when we made friends, learned new skills, and met adventures head on. Later in life we came to realize we also were learning who we wanted to be, how to be a part of a community while making it on our own, and to trust in our ability to overcome challenges.
True to the vision of camp’s founders, Jane and Sumner Williams, High Rocks continues to be a place for excitement and discovery, acceptance and independence. In 2003, Camp High Rocks started the “Camp High Rocks Campership Fund” in memory of camp founder Sumner Williams. This scholarship fund enables children to attend camp who would not otherwise be able to do so. Due to the generous help of our alumni donors, we have awarded scholarships to some very excited boys who were positively changed by their time at camp.
In the words of one long-time camper returning as a staff member:
“As a veteran camper of High Rocks, I have come to understand that your experience at camp truly matters. It taught me responsibility, to be less self-centered, the value of friendship, and how to positively interact with others. A camp that is well-run can have a long lasting positive effect on a child.” -H. Smith
We would like to help more children and we need your help. Please consider making a contribution to the Campership Fund to help others have their own special experience at summer camp. Thank you for your continued support in this endeavor to honor Sumner Williams by offering a piece of this place he loved so much to future campers!!
