Best Day Yet!

What a busy morning of fun and excitement!

If you do not see your son, it is likely he is out on a trip today.  We had three trips out overnight heading out the door along with another day trip.  The paddling two-day is heading out to the Chattooga and then Nantahala.  The climbing two-day is heading out to Linville Gorge; some of the best wilderness in the East.  The hikers are heading out for a two-day in Panthertown on the Nantahala National Forest.  Finally, the mountain bikers had another great trip over in DuPont State Forest.

This really is a great time in the session to see the rewards the boys have gained in their activities.  I am really impressed with the skills these boys have picked up. Paddling a canoe is no small feat.  Not only do you have to figure out how all this paddle, boat, and buoyancy work together, but you also need to learn to communicate and work with another person!  It is truly an art and science wrapped into one.  I enjoy watching these guys put it all together, and look good doing it!

Our tennis and soccer boys had a fun afternoon hosting some of the Keystone Camp girls this afternoon.  You will see some of those pictures today, just in case you were wondering why there were so many girls around.  Some of the conversations continued from last Saturday night.  It was kind of fun to see.  My girls love the Keystone Camp horseback riding program. They ride there all winter long.  Jessica, who runs the program, is one of their favorites.  Personally, she is one of my favorite mentors for my girls.  She does a great job of weaving in life lessons along with riding lessons.  She builds strong girls into strong young women.

On a side note, I was struggling a bit yesterday and today.  My two girls were all set to head out to Camp Illahee on Sunday, but we had a bit of a setback that started on Friday night. Izzie, our youngest, had a temperature.  Well, as you could imagine, the tears were flowing.  I think her older sister, Grace, was more upset than Izzie. She had already worn herself down in the last two weeks of boys camp and picked up some sort of respiratory infection. So Grace and mom went off to camp yesterday morning while Izzie and I stayed back.  She took it like a trooper. I am proud to say that Izzie has made it successfully to her cabin at the Heavenly World this evening! It has been a crazy couple of days in the Gentle House, but the world seems right again.  This will be Grace’s 5th year at Illahee and Izzie’s 4th.  It will be the parents’ first year that both of their girls will be gone for a month.  They sure do love it there.  I will now be on the other side of the picture posting world once again, just like you all.

Also, if you have not been on our Facebook page, then you are missing out on some fun posts and videos.  Check it out!
