Best Day Yet!

This was one of those days where the weather could not have been more perfect.  Another great day for camp! Not that any day is not a great day, it’s just one of those days that “pops” when you walk outside.  Everyone here practically skipped around like it was a dream. They sure did love it!

We had several trips rolling out of camp this morning.  The climbers were the first out the door over to Cedar Rock. A great piece of granite over in Pisgah Forest. Some hikers headed over to DuPont State Forest to enjoy some waterfall views and hit one of the lakes for a swim.  Mountain biking was also over in DuPont on a trip to hit some of the trails. Several of our younger paddlers hit some of their first river events over on the French Broad.

In camp, the sailors enjoyed a near perfect sailing day for every hour!  The boys in crafts headed over to the wood shop to begin their week-long woodworking project.  Everyone else continued to practice the skills and continue the adventure!

Tonight, our oldest age group of boys headed out for the infamous “Chill Night.”  The event begins in Pisgah where they enjoy the natural water slide called “Sliding Rock,” and then head over to Dolly’s ice cream bar for the final piece of the “chill.” We should have some of those pictures tomorrow. The rest of the boys enjoyed some great games in camp including the water slide, rope swing, and our own game of “canoe fill-ups.”  You can’t beat the thrill of loading four guys in a boat, two with paddles and two with buckets. You then send them out to fill each other’s boat up until it tips!  Pure joy in a boy’s world! I spent a little time with a few of our Mini I campers playing some gaga ball.  What a great group of guys!  The counselors do such a great job with these boys.  It was fun to see everyone truly involved in the game and having fun!

Speaking of the Mini I families, I cannot believe you all are coming to get your boys in just a few days! Don’t fret, we have plenty in store for your guys until the end. Darby (our extraordinary office manager and director of marketing and communication) made me promise to remind you of a couple closing session items.  First, if you plan on having your son’s trunk shipped home, please contact the UPS store in Brevard for details and payment.  You also need to let us know that you would like your trunk shipped.  We will deliver your trunk and/or duffel to the UPS Store in Brevard on closing day for shipment.

Again, please contact Darby in the office at office@highrocks.com if you decide to ship a trunk and/or duffel and we will deliver the item(s) to the UPS store after Closing Day. Second, if you would still like to download high-resolution pictures or purchase a USB drive of pictures, be sure to let Darby know.

On a side note, now that the holiday week is over, it is time to start thinking about camp!  I wanted to remind you that the summer is THE best time to visit camp for families that are considering High Rocks. There is no better time to see our camp in action, meet the staff and directors, and even meet the boys who attend here.  If you have friends or family in the area this summer, be sure to tell them to set up a tour of High Rocks.  You can send them this Tour Link!

That should do it for tonight!  I hope you all are having a good start to your week!  We have a lot more in store for ours.
