Color War and Final Campfire

To the final minute, we were still sucking every last adventure of time out of camp today.  None of this sitting around and not doing anything for two days.  Our final match of the camper-counselor tennis tournament was a big show today.  It takes a full four weeks to get all of these games in to complete the tournament.  What a great game and a great history here at High Rocks. We still had some boys on the river this morning as well. This afternoon was the much-anticipated color war event.  A five-way game of color war that goes on all afternoon. It is always a big event that the boys really enjoy!  What a way to end the session!

Tonight at campfire, we gave out over twenty five-year backpacks and eight ten-year Fritz Orr paddles. It was an honor to hand these out to the boys this evening.  I look forward to all of these boys making it to their backpack year.

It certainly was a wonderful session and a great month (or two weeks) for these boys.  If you make it by 9:30 you will still be able to hear the boys singing in assembly. Hopefully, he will have a clean shirt on. He will definitely have longer hair.  He will also have some mixed feelings about leaving camp and being excited to see you. He will certainly be tired.  He will also stand a little taller, have some friends to introduce, and even want to show you some of what he learned. Enjoy the stories and ask some questions.  When you get home don’t forget to go through the pictures together.  Once you get started you can just sit back and listen to the story of camp as your son tells you all about it.

Thank you again for trusting us to mentor your son for these weeks.  It is always an adventure and always a privilege. I look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow.
