Waikiki Wednesday!
July 18, 2018 by Don Gentle

Another Waikiki Wednesday was upon us. Many of the boys broke out their favorite Hawaiian-style shirt and took part in the fun! Our Mini II boys were tearing it up in their second full day of activities. I was a beautiful day. We enjoyed the slightly cooler weather and sun throughout. Mountain biking added some additional flair today with Wheelie Wednesday in their advanced classes. The staff assisted the boy on the activity field with how to pull the proper wheelie on their bikes. It made for some fun pictures for sure.
The boys from soccer and tennis enjoyed some visitors from Keystone Camp this morning. The campers all enjoyed some mixed doubles on the courts while the soccer players also mixed up the game a bit. We will see some more of the Keystone girls later this week when they come back for a square dance.
This afternoon Waikiki Wednesday continued with music and fun down by the lake. We had a complete swim-up drink station on the lake during choice period.
Out of camp, our three-day climb finished up their event and returned around 8 pm. We had an early paddling trip out to the French Broad River. Check out the great images. We also had a three-day hiking trip return this afternoon. Finally, there was another mountain biking trip over to DuPont Forest.
Our Mini II guys headed out on a perfect evening for their cabin overnight experience. The boys will spend the night out in one of five open-air shelters on our property. They will make pita pizzas, smores, and play some games around the fire. It will be an exciting event had by all! I can’t wait to hear the stories in the morning!
The rest of camp had a “choice’ evening program. The boys could choose between waterslide/rope swing, dodgeball, gaga ball, kickball, or bingo night! Everyone found something to appeal to their plans.
Have a great night!
