Welcome July Campers

It sure was a wonderful morning to start summer camp! It is honestly one of my favorite days. I like to think about it as a big reunion, but then some people bring a friend for you to meet. I really enjoyed catching up with so many returning families. Meeting new friends and families was a special treat!

As the arrivals trickled down to just a few flight arrivals, it was time to get up to lunch. The first meal was a solid staple of chicken fingers, fruit, and a number of salad bar items. A good simple meal to keep it safe on opening day.

We quickly busied ourselves with some activity rotations to find out what opportunities lurk out there in High Rocks land. We also use the opportunity to learn some basic skills and check-offs. By the time dinner came around we were ready to feast! Dinner is another opening day favorite with pasta, scratch-made meat, marinara, pesto, and Alfredo sauce paired with garlic bread and asparagus. Add a salad bar full of all sorts of wonderful veggies, greens, and cheeses and you have one solid opening day.

The boys moved right into some evening age group games while rotating through their activity sign-ups for the session. Tomorrow I will send you an email of your son’s schedule and some additional session details.  Be sure to “whitelist” my email address if you happen to find me in your spam box.

After some great evening activity field games, we all headed back to the cabins for some showers and a wrap up to the day.  Each cabin had a small cabin meeting to go over some ground rules and highlights to finish up the day just as the lights out bell was ringing.

You will notice that our website and picture gallery is very user-friendly on most any device, including mobile and tablet devices.  To get all the details and features like face tag, image download, and navigation; please check out the notes and details here at  Gallery Help and Highlights. This gallery is password protected. I sent out an email today with details for your login.  Please let me know if you need help getting into the gallery.

It may make sense to save the link and login to your browser for quick access. I will try my best to get the blog up by 9:30 pm each night, but sometimes camp does get in the way, or our rural internet has been quite slow (or even slower). Don’t fret!  We will get you the pictures as soon as we can! Once the blog is live, the pictures should be loaded for the day unless I have noted that they are still loading.

Don’t forget to follow us on social media.  We will make it worth your while by putting up a couple extra pictures and a special video from time to time during the day.  Twitter: @CampHighRocks. Facebook:  Camp High Rocks, and on Instagram: #camphighrocks. Feel free to throw up some of these great pictures to share on your feed.  We like making High Rocks look good!

Everything we do is a direct effort to be sure your son has an incredibly fun, challenging, and vital experience here at camp.   We are half the population compared to most of our peers.  High Rocks has an incredible staff ratio and WAY more property than other summer camps.  Not all summer camps are equal.

Again, we see it as an honor and a privilege to have your boys here at High Rocks.  If anything did not go as planned today, please let us know. If you EVER have a question or concern, please ask us! We want it to be an enjoyable experience for everyone!
