Phillip AldenCabin Counselor
Phillip graduated from St. Andrews University with a degree in Psychology. He will be a cabin counselor and a horseback riding instructor this summer. He has been a therapeutic horsemanship instructor, a camp counselor, and national youth officer of AQHYA in the past. Phillip has shown horses in 3 countries and 48 states! Welcome to the staff Phillip!
Derek AndersonCabin Counselor
Derek joins us from NC State where he will be graduating with an Environmental Science degree primarily focusing on Geology. He will be working as a cabin counselor and will bring his geology knowledge with him into the cabin. We cannot wait to see what his campers learn!
George ArrowsmithCabin Counselor
George is a longtime High Rocks camper and was an Assistant Counselor last summer. He will be back as a full counselor this summer this year! George, the eldest of four siblings, is skilled at the harmonica and is an avid paddler.
Thomas AucampAssistant Counselor
Thomas is at High Rocks for his second year as staff member after six years as a camper. Hailing from Charlotte, Thomas is excited to be back on the mountain teaching canoeing and hiking as an Assistant Counselor. Thomas’ previous experience will serve him well as he assists in the cabin.
Mark grew up at High Rocks and spent many summers here as a camper and this is his eighth summer working at camp. Mark is an Eagle Scout and a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s honor society. Mark has an avid memory for jokes and can make any camper laugh!
Benjamin BirdsongHorseback Riding Instructor & Office Assistant
Benjamin also grew up at High Rocks. Currently working in the barn and in the office, he is hardworking known for getting items of the checklist done. As an avid West Coast Swing Dancer, we are hoping he will teach a few of our boys how to swing during choice period.
Charlotte Blewett-HarrisHorseback Riding Instructor
Say hello to Charlotte! We are excited to have her join our Horseback Riding Staff this summer. Hailing from the United Kingdom, her vast experience horse back riding will be a huge addition to our staff this summer. She has competed in Horseback Riding National Championships in show jumping and showing.
Max BlythCabin Counselor
Max Blyth, from England, will be joining our staff this summer. With an adventurous spirit and great attitude, he is ready to take on camp life! He will be spending his time at the rock wall this summer helping our campers challenge themselves on the Rock Climbing wall.
Lauryn BostdorfCamp Nurse
Lauryn is joining our Nurse Team for her second summer! She will be one of our two nurses during the 4-Week session. Her wealth of knowledge and positive attitude help alleviate any health concerns the boys have while at camp.
Guthrie Bouchard-DeanCabin Counselor
As a former camper of five years, we are looking forward to Guthrie to share his knowledge of camp. He grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and currently attends the University of George. Go Dogs! With a love for the outdoors, he has spends his time backpacking throughout the Untied States including Yosemite and the Tetons.
Charley BradleyFull Time Maintenance Staff
Charley is a part of our year around crew. He works with Danny to keep camp in tip top shape for the summer! In his spare time, Charley is an passionate paddler who holds a Wilderness First Aid Certification. We expect to see a few tricks and get a few tips from him about paddling while he runs around keeping our grounds immaculate. We are excited to have him this summer!
Mary Grace BrennanCamp Nurse
Mary Grace has a long history at High Rocks starting in 1978 when she first joined our staff as a camp nurse. She has remained a friend of camp since and has frequently returned to help us out. This summer she will again be assisting us in keeping the healthcare portion of camp running smoothly!
Zach BrysonCabin Counselor
Zach will be joining our staff this summer as a cabin counselor! Hailing from Western North Carolina, Zach feels right at home in the outdoors. He currently works for Wake Forest's high ropes challenge course and will be working for ours as well. With a loud voice and an outgoing personality, we know he will fit right into camp.
Aidan CarringtonCounselor in Training
After many years as a camper, Charlie will be one of our 3-Week Counselors In Training! As an AIDE last year, Aidan helped out in activities, the camp store, and in the kitchen. We are excited to have him expand his duties further into cabin life!
Brad "Chum" CarterExpedition Leader
Bradley "Chum" Carter is a guitarist, banjoist, fiddler, and composer for film along with an experienced climber. He will be leading climbing trips a few days a week for camp and performing his new album around Western North Carolina the other days. We are excited to welcome "Chum" back!
Shane CaseyCabin Counselor
We are excited to have Shane join our rock climbing staff this summer. During his time at Lock Haven University, Shane has taken Team-Building, Camp Counseling, Outdoor Activities, Outdoor Education, Outdoor Recreation, and Environmental classes. We are excited for him to bring what he has learned in school to camp!

With many years under his belt at Camp High Rocks, we are excited to welcome David back this summer. He will be in charge of choice period, Sunday Activities, and all things fun at camp.
Mary CollHead of Swimming
Meet Mary Coll! Flying over from Edinburgh, she is will be joining our waterfront staff this summer. With a previous summer camp expereince, she will be bringing plenty of expertise to the swim docks. She also has experience teaching kayaking, canoeing, fire building, and arts & crafts.
Charlie CookCounselor in Training
After 8 years as a camper, Charlie will be one of our 4-Week Counselors In Training! We are eager to see this young man continue the transition of learning how to be a role model for our campers. With a great attitude and a hardworking will, we are excited to have him with us in the 4-Week!
Hunter DavisCabin Counselor
Hunter is originally from North Carolina and currently attends Pfeiffer University studying Psychology and Human Services. Growing up, his family owned an adventure guide service where he guided groups of people through kayak tours and other high adventure activities. With his experiences leading groups and making connections, we are excited to have him on staff this summer!
Ryan DeGarmoHead of Mountain Biking
Ryan has worked with us in previous summers, and we are excited to have him again! A father of two boys, he is an excellent fit into our program. After moving south from Ohio, Ryan has become a Brevard local and will be leading our Mountain Biking program this summer.
Chris DorrityRock Climbing Trip Leader
Chris Dorrity is a familiar face around here with this being his twelfth summer. Chris worked as our head of climbing for a number of years before taking a hiatus to get married, jump into a teaching career, and have a child. Chris will be joining us during his summer vacation once again to work in the climbing program.
Kathleen ElliottPaddling Instructor and Trip Packer
Kathleen is back for a third summer! She is originally from Cedar Mountain and has camp experience at Gwynn Valley, Camp Tekoa, and Keystone Camp. We are excited for her to be back and share the knowledge she has with the campers!
John EnlowCabin Counselor
John is coming to camp with four years of camper experience under his belt. He is currently attending Miami University pursing a degree in Computer Engineering! He will be helping with a range of activities this summer from hiking to riflery and archery! We thrilled to have him join us for the summer season.
William ForemanTennis Pro
William, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, is a graduate of the Croft Institute of International Studies at the University of Mississippi. With his previous experiences as an Eagle Scout, as an instructor in children’s tennis programs, and a manager of a Tennis Club, William brings wonderful skills to share with our campers. William will be teaching our tennis classes and semi-private lesson this summer for our campers.
Alex FratoniHead Staff & Prep Cook
Alex is back for a fourth year on staff! He grew up in Italy before his family moved to the Charlotte area to start his senior year in high school. We are excited to have him back this summer to help in the kitchen and around camp. He brings a wealth of cooking knowledge that helps us spice things up in the kitchen!
Emily FreemanHorseback Riding Instructor
We are excited to have Emily back to join our 2018 staff! Emily graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Animal Science. with plans to head to Veterinary School in the fall. She grew up involved in United States Pony Clubs and is excited to share her love for all things horses with the campers this summer.
Hunter GalleherCabin Counselor
Hunter currently attends University of Colorado Boulder where he heads out on hikes every week to enjoy the outdoors around him. As a previous High Rocks camper, he is excited to get to know his campers this coming summer. He currently teaches swimming lessons in Colorado therefore is well versed in teaching and coaching children. Welcome to the team, Hunter!
Brooke GantKitchen Staff
Brooke is back for her third summer on staff with us at High Rocks. She comes to camp excited to help us as a member of the kitchen crew and is ready to keep the hungry hordes well fed throughout their busy days. Brooke can whip up a fierce dessert! Our boys are looking forward to her return along with all the dessert ideas!
Christine GerkeHorseback Riding and Swimming Instructor
Christine will join us this summer from South Africa! She is currently a nanny in London. Last year she taught three and four-year-olds in pre-school in Pretoria, South Africa after getting a postgraduate certificate in education through the University of South Africa. She is our world traveler!

Hailing from Kentucky, Liz will be joining our staff this summer teaching Soccer, Swimming, and Arts&Crafts. Having worked at a neighboring girls camp in past summers, she brings many new ideas and camp experience to our staff.

As a former camper, Charles is returning to Camp High Rocks to give back to those who mentored him. We are excited to have Charles join us this summer. He is currently attending the University of Alabama majoring in Civil Engineering. Growing up fishing with his family and coaching youth sports teams, Charles is ready to take on counselor life!

Jeff is returning to High Rocks for his seventh year and we are very happy to have him back as a member of our leadership staff. Jeff learned of camp when he came here as a student at Ravenscroft School. He is a graduate of NC State University, with a degree in Philosophy. Jeff has been teaching high school students in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina.
Will HartmanCounselor In Training
Will is joining us for the Three-Week Session as a Counselor in Training! Growing up in Nashville, TN he has had a forest for a backyard and therefore enjoyed many days outside and is looking forward to being outside again at camp. His guitar playing will be a much welcomed addition the camp band!
Daniel HerrRock Climbing Activity Head
Daniel is back for a third summer on our climbing staff! Daniel has experience working with elementary-aged kids at Camp Blue Star in Hendersonville and taught many classes to scout groups through his job at REI. Daniel is an avid rock climber, hiker, and backpacker…living a short two hours from Grand Canyon certainly has its perks for an adventure-minded lad!
Marissa HobbsCamp Nurse
Marissa will be joining us for her second summer in the two-week session as one of our camp nurses. We are thrilled to have her back! Her experience, positive attitude, and contagious smile make Marissa a joy to be around (even when your sick!).
Yaroslav HnatuskoCabin Counselor
Yaro joins us with an extensive history of coaching and playing tennis. He currently plays at the collegiate level for BlueField College on their varsity team. Previously, he has played and coached extensively in the Ukraine. With experience coaching last summer at New England Summer Camp as well, Yaro is the perfect fit to help take our tennis program to the next level and to be a wonderful cabin counselor.
James "JJ" JacksonHead Staff & Hiking Trip Leader
James, known as JJ around camp, joins us with many experiences in the outdoors working with children. He has worked in at youth risk programs, golf and tennis programs for children, fighting fires in Alaska, and most recently locally in Natures Classroom. He is an phenomenal guitar player, avid hiker, and enjoys playing rounds of disc golf!
Will JarvisCabin Counselor
Having been to a few other summer camps as a child, Will is looking forward to getting back into the summer camp world! He is excited to create a atmosphere where boys can easily "laugh and learn". With extensive skills in soccer and many other activities, Will is a great addition to the High Rocks Crew!
Bradley JonesCabin Counselor
We are thrilled that Bradley, an Atlanta native, will be back with us this summer as a Counselor! He was a High Rocks camper for eight summers and is excited to share his love for this place with young campers. Bradley enjoys strumming on his old banjo, working with his Boy Scout troop, and playing a mean game of tennis.
Will JonesCabin Counselor
Will joins us on staff this summer with previous time spent as a camper during his early teens. Having graduated from college with a degree in Scientific Glass Technologies, Will has many fun talents and skills! While glass blowing is not a camp activity yet, we might just have the man to make it happen!
Rob JordenAssistant Counselor
Rob has attended camp for many summers and is looking forward to coming back in a role of Assistant Counselor. Throughout his time at High Rocks he has been a huge aide in Archery and Riflery. We know Smoot is excited to have him back at the range this summer to help our campers learn from basic to advanced skills.

Thomas is at High Rocks for his second year on staff after eight years as a camper. Thomas will be assisting with the horseback riding program this summer. He has spent many years as a camper in the High Rocks barn and is excited to take on a new role as an instructor. He will also put his camper experience to good use as he assists in the cabin as well.

Matt joins our staff from Charlotte. NC. He currently is pursuing a major in Finance and minors in German and Military Science. Currently in rolled in NC State's ROTC program, Matt will be a Second Lieutenant upon graduation. Matt will be working for the summer in hiking and archery and riflery. Welcome to the team!
Harry KahnCounselor In Training
Harry is joining our staff after many years of a camper. He is well known as the only person to catch a fish by hand from our lake. After learning how to paddle on the lake, he has continued to be an avid paddler and will be helping out in this activity during his session.
Jason KarolAssistant Head of Hiking
Growing up in New York, Jason graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in Marketing. He moved down to South Carolina recently and has been enjoying the large amount of lakes to fish on in the area. He will be helping our campers learn all thinks backpacking including fire making, tarp set up, and how to fit a backpack properly.

We are excited to welcome Hale to our staff after 8 years as a camper. He is excited to work with our younger campers as he has a special knack at understanding their needs. Hale is well versed in many different areas of camp from going on our 5-Day Hike to receiving the Golden Arrow in Archery.

Hailing from Kentucky and currently in school at Samford University for Interior Architecture, Lucy will be joining our High Rocks crew for the summer. Coming from a camp background including YMCA Camp High Harbour and Young Life Camp - Trail West, Lucy is a great addition to our staff this summer.

Dalton LangdonHead of Hiking
Dalton is at High Rocks for his fourth summer on staff and is excited to be back in the mountains! He has just completed a Masters Degree in Higher Education from UNC Willimington. Dalton has extensive knowledge of backpacking skills and local trails. He will be heading up our backpacking and hiking activity this summer.

Having thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2016, he is well equipped with the skills needed for our backpacking trips. The Appalachian Trail(AT) is a hiking trail from Georgia to Maine about 2,200 miles long.

A graduate of Brevard College where he majored in Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education, Will is well equipped to help around Camp High Rocks in many capacities. He is currently working on a Masters in Education.This summer, he will be in charge of our High Ropes Course along with helping out in sailing.

Doug joins our Mountain Biking Staff for the summer! He lived in Wyoming for 5 years working at Central Wyoming College and for Tetons Parks Recreation after graduating from Appalachian State with a degree in Recreation Management. Doug recently moved to Brevard with his wife and is working at Brevard College during the year. Welcome to staff Doug!

After two years as a camper, Mitchell is excited to take on being a Counselor In Training. John will be back at High Rocks as an Assistant Counselor for the three-week session after many years as a camper! He has experience sailing in the Caribbean, camping with his Boy Scout troop, and volunteering in his community. We are glad to have him back this summer working with our boys!

Breana is jumping into the behind-the-scenes at camp! She will be helping cook up delightful treats and hearty meals in the kitchen. During the school year, she is a 4th grade teacher at Brevard Elementary School. We know she will easily find a way into our hearts with her enthusiasm and bubbly personality!
Blaire NicholsHead of Horseback Riding
Blaire returns for her eleventh summer here at High Rocks. She currently lives in Greenville, NC with her husband and child. She has received a bachelors and masters degree in Art at ECU where she also rode for the equestrian team. She got into the camp world as a camper at Rockbrook just down the road from High Rocks. Blaire will again be our Riding Director for the summer.
Camille NolandA little bit of everything!
Camille grew up spending her summers at High Rocks and also spent several years as a camper at Camp Green Cove. . She is a vital member of camp and we are lucky to have her joining us again for the summer to do a little bit of everything! From helping her brother, Nate in the kitchen to helping with office work, she will be every where this summer lending a helping hand.
Dan NolandHead Counselor
A Ph.D. teaching English and Linguistics at UNC-Wilmington, Dan is spending his 45th summer at High Rocks. A brother-in-law to Townsend, Dan has been an integral part of shaping camp’s philosophy and activities over the years. Campers and staff alike appreciate his warmth, humor, and wonderful campfire stories. He knows the woods around us, so campers and staff should get him to share his knowledge of the flora and fauna they encounter on hikes and walks around camp.
Nate NolandHead Chef
As Woody’s brother, Dan’s son, and Townsend’s nephew, Nate is very familiar with High Rocks. Nate is a recent graduate of culinary school and can’t wait to serve homemade, delicious fare to campers and staff alike. He will be the Head of the Kitchen for a second year and we are excited for his creative mind in the kitchen! His homemade biscuits and cinnamon rolls are highlights of any campers day!
Jordan O'Brien-BarcoeHorseback Riding
Jordan is back for a second year on horseback riding staff. Hailing from Ireland, Jordan is an excellent rider and teacher. She has spent many hours on horseback riding in rings and on trails. Coming from summers filled with outdoor activities, Jordan is a perfect fit for camp and the barn!
Hallie OdellCamp Videographer
Hallie will be our Camp Videographer for a second year! She has spent years working with youth in her hometown and is currently working towards gaining experience in digital media production. She is excited to mix her excitement for working with youth and being behind a video camera all summer long.
Smith O'LearyCounselor In Training
After years as a camper, Smith is excited to finally get to be on the other side of camp as a role model for our campers. As a Counselor In Training, Smith well help in activities and jump into the cabin helping campers navigate cabin life. We are excited to see him back at camp to take up the challenge!
Elliot is returning for his eighth summer on staff after 6 years as a camper. He has spent time working in a therapeutic education program with teen-aged students as well as a school based program focused on middle school students. Prepped with a host of new skills and experiences, Elliot is looking forward to being back at camp a few times a week. Elliot is a great addition to the staff as a head staff member with many skills.
Fritz OrrCanoeing and Kayaking Director
Fritz comes to camp this summer for his twelfth year on staff at High Rocks, where he also spent three years as a camper. He is an American Canoeing Association L5 instructor/trainer and has helped design many of the popular boats in use today. He spends much of his free time creating custom wooden paddles. Fritz was also a member of the US paddling team from 1990-96.
Mike O'SullivanHorseback Riding Instructor
Mike joins us for his a second summer at High Rocks. He has been riding horses since he was 9 and continues to ride as much as his school schedule allows. Mike has also been teaching riding lessons since he was 16. Mike will be instructing in our horseback riding program this summer in addition to being a cabin counselor.
Jacob PickettCounselor In Training
As a camper for six years, Jacob is looking forward to helping new campers learn about High Rocks. Jacob has had experience leading and helping teach middle-schoolers at his church. We are looking forward to having him back at camp to help aid our staff and guide our campers this summer.
Rich PopeAssistant Counselor
Rich is at High Rocks for his second year on staff after four years as a camper. Hailing from Charlotte, Rich is excited to be back on the mountain and teaching climbing and canoeing as an Assistant Counselor. Rich's previous experience being at Counselor In Training will serve him well as he assists in a cabin too.

Back for a second year, Jessica is looking forward to being one of our Three-Week Camp Nurses. With many years of experience, she is always bringing new ideas to our infirmary. She helps us keep our infirmary up to date on the newest practices and tips to help patch up campers.
Storm QuarchioniRopes Course Instructor
Storm, hailing from England, is joining us for the summer as a High Ropes Instructor. She is making the journey across the ocean to help mentor and guide our campers throughout the summer! With previous experience in instructing High Ropes and Rock Climbing, she will be a great addition to our team at the rock wall.
Kristen RathbunChild Care
As a recent Brevard College Graduate, Kristen will be joining our summer team. She will be helping take care of a few our full-time and barn staff's children throughout the day. We are looking forward to having her at camp and the potential for her to help out in activities as well.
Etienne RichartCounselor In Training
Etienne grew up in Paris, France has lived in a few other countries as well before residing currently in America. He has been a High Rocks camper for many years and is excited to make the transition to a Counselor In Training role. He skilled in activities such as riflery, hiking, and canoeing which will be put to good use this summer!
Ken RobertsCabin Counselor
Ken comes to us from Atlanta, Georgia, where he is an Eagle Scout, a Sunday school teacher, and an avid outdoorsman. Ken is a veteran High Rocks camper and is excited to pass on to new campers his technical outdoors skills as well as his general love for camp. Having spent a year as a Counselor In Training, he is looking forward to heading back to High Rocks for another summer!
Aidan SamuelsonCounselor In Training
As a former camper for four years, Aidan is well equipped to take on his new role as a Counselor in Training. He says, "The structure of a well-run camp also helps a kid feel safe so they can try new things, push themselves, and grow." We are looking forward to having this young man on staff to share his knowledge and help our campers grow in their time spent at camp.
Samantha SharkeyArts and Crafts Activity Head
Sam is joining our staff for her first official summer! She has been helping out around camp for a few years. With her love for children and creative mind, Sam is the perfect fit for our Arts&Crafts Activity Head! We are looking forward to her new ideas and creative thinking to help challenge the boys.
John SheehanCabin Counselor
Growing up attending a neighboring all boys camp, John is no stranger to camp life. He is excited to jump in and meet our campers. In the previous summer, John went on a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) trip where he kayaked and rafted down the Green River in Utah. With skills in many activities and a positive attitude, we are excited to have John at camp this summer.
Nolan ShieldsCounselor In Training
Nolan is from Atlanta, GA and has grown up at Camp High Rocks. He is currently a competive swimmer and spends over 20 hours a week at practices. Nolan is known for a strong work-ethic and determination. He says, "it would be amazing to take on the role of someone who can help a future generation of campers discover who they are, and see them grow into young men."
Boote ShiversAssistant Counselor
Boote is joining us for his 11th summer at Camp High Rocks and second on staff. In the fall, Boote will be attending The Citadel. With a positive attitude and an overall excitement for camp, we are looking forward to having Boote in an Assistant Counselor role. He will be helping out in paddling this summer along with his cabin duties.
William SmithCounselor In Training
William has been attending Camp High Rocks for seven years. Transitioning into a Counselor In Training role, Will is looking forward to welcoming and encouraging his campers. In the summer of 2016, Will hiked and climbed in the Canadian Rockies. With his camp experience and love of the outdoors, Will is an excellent addition to the summer staff.
Brad SmithCabin Counselor
Brad first came to High Rocks as a 6th grader for one of our LEAP school groups and loved it so much he returned as a chaperone for his alma mater. We are looking forward to having Brad back this summer to play trumpet in our High Rocks Band along with his many other talents! He will be teaching Archery and Arts & Crafts. Brad is quick to laugh and continually smiles where every he goes.
Henry SmithCabin Coubselor
Henry hails from Greenville, South Carolina and has attended High Rocks as a camper for nine summers. In the previous summers, he has been through our leadership program as a Counselor In Training and Assistant Counselor. He will be teaching Archery, Riflery, and Hiking. Will SmootArchery and Riflery Activity Head
Will, more commonly referred to as Smoot, was a former camper at High Rocks and is looking forward to returning to camp for his seventh year on staff. Smoot is our Head of Archery/Riflery and he will be an experienced member of our head staff this summer. He brings a safety focused mindset to our shooting area that we very much appreciate. We are thrilled to have Smoot back this summer.
Simona SpiegelTennis Instructor
Simona has grown up in the outdoors. Living in a town close in proximity the Appalachian Trail, she is no stranger to hiking and camping. She currently attends the University of Mary Washington studying Anthropology and English. She will be joining our tennis staff having experience teaching and playing throughout her life.
Alyssa SprinkleHead of Ceramics
Alyssa joins us for her fourth year on staff at High Rocks! She studies art with a concentration in ceramics at the University of North Carolina- Asheville. Alyssa will be the head of our ceramics program for the third summer. She is excited to again work in a close knit community and share her love of art and the outdoors.
Dakota StoneCabin Counselor
Dakota attends the University of Miami currently. He is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys the saltwater and beaches. Dakota is excited to step into a new realm at High Rocks! He will be down at the docks helping teach campers how to paddle.
Logan StouseAssistant Counselor
Logan is back at High Rocks for his second summer on staff after an eight-year career as a camper here. In his time at camp, Logan enjoyed many different pursuits in our activity structure but consistently loved his time in canoeing, climbing and rock climbing. This year as a assistant counselor he will not only be assisting in the cabin but will also teach canoeing and sailing.
Stephanie is coming back for another summer! She graduated from Belmont University - College of Law this spring. We can not wait to have this soon to be a lawyer back in camp working with our campers, staff, and horses.
James WeatherholtzCabin Counselor
After 8 years as a camper and two summer on staff, James is back as a cabin counselor! Attending The University of the South, Sewanee, has given James a lot of experience backpacking and learning outdoor skills. We are excited for James to share his love of fishing and knowledge of Camp High Rocks to the campers again this summer.
Jack WeathersbyCabin Counselor
After eight summers as a High Rocks camper and one as a Counselor-in-Training, Jack is returning to be a Cabin Counselor this summer. All of his experience will be put to use leading a cabin group and in activities. He currently works training horses and helping teach young riders in Athens, GA. He will be helping in our Barn this summer as well.
Avery WellsArts and Crafts Instructor
Avery has recently graduated from University of North Carolina - Asheville with a double major in art and art history. We are fortunate to have her as an Arts and Crafts Instructor this summer. When not making pottery, Avery enjoys jumping into the lake and climbing on the wall. We are excited to have Avery back for another summer!
Sumner WilliamsCanoeing and Kayaking Activity Head
Sumner has spent many years at High Rocks, as he is the nephew of owner Townsend Birdsong. We are excited to have him back this summer! Sumner graduated in 2014 from the North Carolina School of the Arts and is currently continuing his study of music at university in Vienna, Austria. He is an experienced paddler who is helping continue the history of excellence in our boating program.
George WootenCounselor In Training
As a former camper, George knows his way around Camp High Rocks! He has spent a lot of time fishing with his father, hiking in the outdoors, and working on his aim in riflery. We are excited to have him back this summer to help aid in a cabin and in activities.
Chadwick YoungCabin Counselor
Chadwick currently attends Brevard College and is working towards a degree in their Wilderness Leadership Program. Just in this last semester, he has had classes in Sea and White Water Kayaking, Rock Climbing, and Mountain Biking. He will be joining our Mountain Biking Staff and be working as a Cabin Counselor to help our campers gain confidence in themselves.
