August Session

For boys currently in 1st – 7th grade.

Our Two Week August Session is a great place for many boys to begin their summer camp experience at Camp High Rocks! It is a well rounded session that is very popular with our younger campers.

Many of our first-time campers begin in this session or our Junior Camp. We are prepared for the new excitement and nervousness that often comes with first time campers! We typically have about half of the boys in this session as first-time campers. It is also a great session for camper with summer obligations that make the end of summer a better option.

What You Can Look Forward To:

  • Smaller age range of campers, meaning more peers in your son’s age group to connect with.
  • Sunday Carnival – This famous event only happens in August!
  • A short session, designed for campers to try camp out.
  • Ending the summer with a bang!
  • More experienced counselors with two other sessions under their belt.

This Session Includes:

Monday through Saturday, each camper enjoys five activity periods. As with all of our sessions, we focus on the individual and his goals.  All activities are open to all ages, with advancement determined by skill rather than age. Unlike other camps where adventure is a brief thrill, at Camp High Rocks, boys build and advance skills in activities like rock climbing, fostering growth that extends to other athletic pursuits.

We strive for a diverse group of boys, drawing from Southeastern and mid-Atlantic cities, as well as various locations across the U.S. and a few other countries. Our registration process is carefully managed to create a well-rounded group of boys by limiting the number of boys from the same school or city in a cabin.

This session includes an on property camp-out with their cabin, a trip to Sliding Rock concluding with a visit to the renowned Dolly’s Ice Cream Bar, and opportunities for out-of-camp trips in our adventure activities, special events, and themed days. Additionally, there may be activities with other local camps, such as a Square Dance or soccer match.

We really like High Rocks because it isn’t a typical sports camp. Instead, our son learns skills he couldn’t acquire at home, such as canoeing, mountain biking, climbing, sailing, and much more. Plus, there is an emphasis on civility and sportsmanship that other programs we have looked into seem to lack.
