Archery Instructor Jobs

Camp High Rocks, a private boys camp in Western North Carolina, has instructor openings for its summer archery program.

Instructors must be experienced in shooting, safety, and instruction. Our archery program emphasizes individual skill development and de-emphasizes competitive aspects of sports. Focusing instruction on technique, campers learn to shoot recurves bare-bow – absent any performance-enhancing attachments. Our range focuses mostly on the beginner level of the sport, but development progresses greatly with exceptional instructors. Our range accommodates multiple shooting distances from 10 to 40 yards, allowing for advancement over multiple years. Certification opportunities are available.

Responsibilities: Archery instructors teach all levels of campers 7 to 16 years of age. Male counselors also serve as cabin counselors for groups of 5-7 boys. Female applicants would have additional program duties in place of cabin coverage.

Qualifications:  At least 19 years of age or rising college sophomore, with a strong interest in teaching children. Previous archery instruction experience and certifications preferred.

Benefits: From $300 to $420 per week for the nine week season, depending on experience and qualifications. Training courses available in late May. Includes room, board, and free laundry facilities; staff lounge and wireless internet available; extensive professional discounts; an incredible location with over 1000 acres of wilderness; adjacent to Dupont State Forest, and a 15 minute drive to Pisgah National Forest.

Dates: May 25 – August 5, 2023
