Camp Nurse

Camp High Rocks sits at an elevation of 3000 feet in the midst of 1000 acres of camp-owned mountain woodland, with an 11 acre lake, and miles of hiking and biking trails. Founded in 1958, High Rocks is dedicated to providing a caring, challenging, and noncompetitive outdoor experience for boys. Campers come from around the United States; many return year after year for the wide range of activities offered and for the supportive environment they find here.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, medication administration, communication with parents, and monitoring the health and well being of both campers and staff.  Also the checking-in and administration of field first aid kits. We work closely with our local pediatrician located in Brevard who is available for consultation. The nearest hospital is also located in Brevard, just 8 miles from camp.

Qualifications: Minimum requirements for applicants include an RN and genuine interest in children.  Preference is given to RNs with previous camp experience, school nursing experience, and physicians.

Benefits: Weekly salary to be determined by experience and qualifications. Often the best fit are applicants that can provide a “trade for services,” if you have a child you would like to bring as a camper. Most nurses will fill one of our Two Week, Three Week, or Four Week Sessions. Camp nurses can enjoy the active lifestyle camp provides with opportunities to enjoy many of the activities we offer to campers.

Other benefits include room, board, and free laundry facilities; wireless internet available; extensive outdoor discounts; an incredible location with over 1000 acres of wilderness; adjacent to Dupont State Forest, and a 15 minute drive to Pisgah National Forest; some of the best wilderness and highest mountains on the Eastern Seaboard.
