Rifle Shooting Instructor Jobs

Camp High Rocks, a private boys camp in Western North Carolina, has instructor openings for its summer rifle shooting program. Instructors must be experienced in target air rifle, or similar rifle, instruction and safety. Our program emphasizes individual skills development and de-emphasizes competitive aspects of sports. We have a six-position covered outdoor rifle shooting range that allows for practice whether rain or shine. We use Olympic Class Precision Air Rifles and work on a standard four-position progression and level achievement.

Responsibilities: Rifle shooting instructors teach all levels of campers 7 to 16 years of age. Male counselors also serve as cabin counselors for groups of 5-7 boys. Female applicants would have additional program duties in place of cabin coverage. NRA or Civilian Marksmanship (CMP) instructor level is preferred for rifle shooting instruction. We also offer certification for those who are interested.

Qualifications: At least 19 years of age or rising college sophomore and a strong interest in teaching children is mandatory. Prior experience teaching shooting sports is helpful.

Benefits: From $300 to $420 per week for the nine week season, depending on experience and qualifications. Training courses available in late May. Includes room, board, and free laundry facilities; staff lounge and wireless internet available; extensive professional discounts; an incredible location with over 1000 acres of wilderness; adjacent to Dupont State Forest, and a 15 minute drive to Pisgah National Forest.
