Rock Climbing Instructor

Camp High Rocks, a private boys camp in Western North Carolina, has instructor openings for its summer climbing program. Instructors must be experienced in rock climbing, backpacking, and related skills. Climbing areas we use include Looking Glass, Cedar Rock, Table Rock, Stone Mountain (NC), Moore’s Wall, and the New River Gorge. Climbing experience on these rocks is preferred.

Responsibilities: Instruct climbing at our outdoor climbing tower, our bouldering cave, and our climbing areas near camp for campers 7 to 16 years of age.. Lead backpacking trips and climbing trips up to three days in length. Male applicants would also be cabin counselors for a group of 5-7 boys. Female staff instruct in the activity area and have additional responsibilities in lieu of cabin duties.

Qualifications: At least 19 years of age or rising college sophomore with a strong interest in teaching children, as well as, climbing and hiking experience.

Benefits: From $300 to $420 per week for the nine week season, depending on experience and qualifications. Training courses available in late May.
