Swimming and Waterfront Director, Camp High Rocks, Cedar Mountain, NC

Camp High Rocks, a private boys camp in Western North Carolina, has a director opening for it’s summer swimming program. The Waterfront Director should hold WSI and/or Lifeguarding certifications while also having prior experience instructing swimming . The focus of our program is improving strokes and endurance, not competitive swimming.

Responsibilities: To direct a staff of two to three instructors/lifeguards. Instruct swimming lessons for all levels, ages 7-16, on our 11 acre lake. Lead trips to Sliding Rock or river tubing trips. Male applicants may be a cabin counselor for group of 5-7 boys. Female applicants would have additional responsibilities other than a cabin counselor.

Qualifications: At least 21 years of age, with WSI and/or Lifeguarding certification and a strong interest in working with children required. Instructor trainer certifications preferred.

Benefits: From $290 to $450 per week for the nine week season and one week of orientation, depending on experience and qualifications. Training courses available in late May. Includes room, board, and free laundry facilities; staff lounge and wireless internet available; extensive professional discounts; an incredible location with over 1000 acres of wilderness; adjacent to Dupont State Forest, and a 15 minute drive to Pisgah National Forest.

Instructors should hold WSI and/or Lifeguard certifications, and experience teaching swimming is preferred. Focus of program is improving strokes and endurance, not competitive swimming.

Responsibilities: Instruct swimming lessons for all levels on our 11 acre lake. Lead trips to Sliding Rock or river tubing trips for campers ages 7 to 16. Male applicants would also be cabin counselors for 5-7 boys. Female applicants would have additional program duties in place of cabin coverage.

Qualifications: At least 19 years of age or rising college sophomore. WSI or Lifeguarding certification highly preferred. Training and certifications are available.

Benefits: From $260 to $420 per week for the nine week season, depending on experience and qualifications. Training courses available in late May.
