Whitewater Paddling Director

Camp High Rocks has one opening for a director of its summer whitewater program. Director must be experienced in teaching mostly open boats, but experience in kayak and C-1 is very helpful. Rivers we paddle include the Chattooga, Nantahala, Tuckaseegee, French Broad, Green, and Pigeon. Experience on these rivers is preferred.

Responsibilities: Direct staff of 6-7 canoeing counselors. Create lesson plans for the program. Maintain fleet of boats and gear. Instruct canoeing on our 11-acre lake and lead trips to local rivers.

Qualifications: At least 21 years of age, experience leading river trips, Wilderness First Responder, and ACA whitewater instructor certification or equivalent experience (certification available prior to camp season).  Prior leadership in a whitewater canoeing program is preferred.
