Take On A Leadership Role

Director must be experienced in teaching mostly open boats, but experience in kayak and C-1 is very helpful. Rivers we paddle include the Chattooga, Nantahala, Tuckaseegee, French Broad, Green, and Pigeon. Experience on these rivers is preferred.

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct staff of 6-7 canoeing counselors.
  • Create lesson plans for the program.
  • Maintain fleet of boats and gear.
  • Instruct canoeing on our 11-acre lake and lead trips to local rivers.

Qualifications

At least 21 years of age, experience leading river trips, Wilderness First Responder, and ACA whitewater instructor certification or equivalent experience (certification available prior to camp season). Prior leadership in a whitewater canoeing program is preferred.
