- Nine campers attend the third two-week climbing trip to Yosemite National
Park.

Pandas, Knights that say "NEE," , and ?.
- Troy Matthews, a first year staff member, was collecting wood for
a crafts project with his father, also a crafts counselor. Unfortunately,
Troy was struck on his hand by a copperhead, becoming only the second
person to have an encounter with a poisonous snake in the 40 year history
of High Rocks. Troy was back at work the next day with a swollen arm
and surrounded by a swarm of curious campers. The snake was captured
and later released far from camp.
