Flying Colors

I am sure it will rain soon, but the last couple of days have been pure heaven up here at the High Rocks!  Once again today, the sun was shining, and the breeze was blowing just enough to keep the sailboats moving.

The tripping program was in full force today! We had boys heading to Looking Glass for rock climbing.  They were out the door by 8:30 a.m.! We pride ourselves on never getting turned away because someone has taken our route.  The boys get up early, eat a quick breakfast, and out they go!  The paddlers headed out to the Green River today.  Many of these guys will be heading out to several more rivers over the session in both canoes and kayaks.  The hikers headed out for a two-day with some of the boys from the oldest age group.  They will be heading along a section of the foothills trail for a few days.  Finally, the boys in mountain biking took off for a trip over to Dupont today.  It is full-throttle on the adventure component today. We caught a few shots on the climbing and paddling trip today.

I spent the better part of my day with our accreditation visitors today. As I mentioned before, it is a nice peer process. We both learn from each other and our program is better for it. We were reviewed on over 220 standards including policies, procedures, certifications, training, and facilities. High Rocks passed ALL the standards in flying colors.  It is certainly something to be done with for a while.

Breakfast: French toast sticks, Cream of Wheat, boiled eggs, cut fruit, and assorted cereals

Lunch: Sloppy Joes, fries, pasta salad, sliced watermelon, and two tossed salads to choose from

Dinner: Roasted turkey breast or coconut curry, rice, dressing/stuffing, mushroom gravy, sautéed squash, yeast rolls, salad.

Below is a video with some footage from last week. Check out the fun we are having at camp.  I cannot believe the Mini guys only have three more days.  Don’t be surprised if they ask to stay for two more weeks next year 😊.

Have a great night!

Don
