Swimming

High Rocks’ eleven-acre lake provides the perfect place for campers to cool off after having fun under the warm summer sun either as an activity of instruction or a free-time activity.

For campers who elect to take an hour of daily instruction in swimming, teaching is geared towards coaching an individual stroke and then playing a game which makes use of that stroke or emphasizes a point of technique.  Trips to nearby spots such as Hooker Falls play into the summer tradition of finding a scenic swimming hole and reward campers for their efforts during class.

All campers who demonstrate competent swimming ability are eligible to swim during free-time and may enjoy other waterfront activities such as the rope swing and waterslide.   For those less confident in their swimming skills, electing to take swimming gives them the chance to work with our American Red Cross certified lifeguards and swim instructors.
