Five Days to Go

Today we were back out on trips and enjoying the fruits of their labor over these last few weeks. The boys are working hard and having a blast. Climbing, paddling, and mountain biking has trips out today. In camp, the boys are enjoying their activities and time together. Even tennis and soccer had a trip over to Camp Illahee today. Speaking of tennis.  The semi-final round of the camper-counselor tennis tournament had numerous visitors today while the played.  We caught a number of shots from the event.

The Mini boys are right into the excitement today. The Hillside boys had a morning on the ropes course. Tomorrow Connestee will get their chance.

This really is a great time in the session to see the rewards the boys have gained in their activities.  I am really impressed with the skills these boys have picked up. Down at paddling, for example. Paddling a canoe is no small feat.  Not only do you have to figure out how all this paddle, boat, and buoyancy work together, but you also need to learn to communicate and work with another person!  It is truly an art and science wrapped into one.  I enjoy watching these guys put it all together and look good doing it!

Age Groups Evening Program

Age Group 1 (Hillside and Connestee): Had a super exciting time on their Chill Night! They will spend some time in Pisgah at Sliding Rock and then hit the infamous Dolly’s ice cream on the the way back.

Age Group 2 (Foxhollow and Lakeside): On the tennis courts.

Age Group III (Chalet and Windswept): Activity Field.

Age Group IV (Flattop and Overlook): Canoe Fill-Ups.

Age Group V (Outpost and Sprucepine): Dodgeball in the gym.

It is hard to believe we only have a few more days left in camp.  You wouldn’t know it by the schedule.  It is still going full force here at High Rocks…all the way to the end.

Have a great night,

Don
