Rain-a-Palooza

After a summer of clear mornings that hint at the day’s heat yet to come, this morning continued  a change in weather to start this week. The morning was a bit chilly. The blankets were pulled up firmly and man was it quiet out in camp right up to the bell. In some cabins, a few minutes past the wake up call if truth be told.

The far lake bank was not visible through the fog as camp sorted itself out with bed making and cabin cleaning. Breakfast was delicious with french toast sticks, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, fruits, yogurts, cereals, and more. The crackling fire at one end of the dining hall was a nice touch as some campers took a moment to rotisserie themselves in front of the heat.

Then off to assembly the crowd went, only to discover a morning routine change up for a fun surprise. In the interest of leaning into the weather pattern of morning rain, our skilled program director minds came up with Rain-a-Palooza instead. Quickly all campers and counselors went back to their cabins to brainstorm a favorite song to perform, replete with choreography and costumes. Then back to the gym they went and proceeded to lay down quite the performance, each cabin pitching in their own piece to the overall picture of goofy fun. The mood was high, the music was bumping, and laughing applause rang out over camp.

After the fun, we enjoyed a spot of free time before lunch with activities open and even some brave young fellows pitching themselves down the waterslide. Lunch was a tasty taco bar, rest hour was remarkably quiet, and then the afternoon was back to regular activities.

5:00 Choice Period had a bunch of options to partake in, along with speedy rounds of our tennis tournament being played for interested spectators. Was it chilly still, even without the rain? Yes. Was the lake full of swimmers and boaters regardless? Was the disc golf course thoroughly played and mud gaga enjoyed? Absolutely.

Finishing Touch

Our artists and potters were busy at work today, choosing and applying glazes on their works. Once they have been kiln-fired, they are ready for the somewhat perilous journey home to pride-of-place spots.

Age Groups Evening Program

Tonight, the alternative options continue with campers able to choose their own adventure. They can exert themselves in the gym with a variety of counselor-led games or games of TTC on the tennis courts. They can instead take the leisurely route of table games with groups of friends if they would like. The third option is more a full vegetative, cozy state with a camp movie night in front of the fire with some attendant snacks.

Please enjoy the pictures and a glimpse of the whack fun from today. We will see you back here tomorrow evening!
