It was another fantastic Sunday here at High Rocks! After a much-needed sleep-in, the boys worked hard to get their laundry up to the lot before breakfast. We had a great meal including scratch-made cinnamon rolls, then headed down to the lake for our morning service.
Zoob led us in a great morning presentation and discussion on Acts of Kindness. Afterward, we had each activity come up and announce new camper Level Rankings in their respective activities. It is really cool to see this level system take off. What a great wasy to see your success, and solidify your goals.
We spent the rest of our morning enjoying some chill time around camp. The weather was just about perfect. Many guys were down at the lake paddling, swimming, and even sailing. Other guys were over at tennis squeezing in the next camper-counselor matches. Time is running out for this bracket. Additionally, guys were finishing up their rounds for the Thrid Annual Biscuit Disc Golf Tournament.
The big event for the day was the Upper Senior Challenge. After starting way back in the summer of 2004, this year is the 20th (we skipped 2020) running of the Upper Senior Challenge. We only run it during the two longer sessions. It is always a challenge and a great time. Again, the weather was great for the event as they ran around High Rocks challenging themselves with teamwork, camp activities, and focus. It is not an easy event. The challenges are varied based on activities and events from the years of experience here at High Rocks. It really levels the playing field from the more athletic to the less athletic. The boys will receive the results on Wednesday during their steak dinner.
the rest of camp had a fun time on the slipe and slide, dodgeball, and a fun time in the pavillion. All of this under the Theme of Biscuit’s Birthday Bash. A celebration of our camp golden retriever named Biscuit. She practically famous.
Having a blast on the slip and slide this afternoon! What a great afternoon!
After a good shower hour, we had a wonderful cookout on the lawn followed by our weekly campfire. Near the end of campfire, we handed out five-year backpacks for this session. There were 21 campers that received them tonight. You can see them featured in the header. All these boys are about to complete their fifth summer here at High Rocks. It gives them a chance to show the off for a week before the leave. Next week, we will hand out a few 10-year Fritz Orr paddles.
It sure was a great day! We have a busy four days left! Stay tuned!
