Having a Blast

Today was our last full day of activities.  We still had a couple of trips out today.  Hiking took an all-day hike up to High Pisgah.  The rock climbers were out for another trip to the High Rocks.

The weather was wonderful all day. I think my favorite was just looking across the lake today to see the playground that took place during activity time.  Sailboats, paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, tubing, and even some swimmers.  It was a perfect time on the lake this afternoon.

The last group hit the High Ropes Course this morning as well!  Tomorrow, we will wrap up the session-long camper/counselor tennis final!  Many of the boys will come to watch that event late morning.

Closing Day Notes

Tomorrow we have regular activities in the morning and then we will start our transition after lunch. First, we start packing our trunks for pick-up on Saturday morning.  We wrap up the afternoon with a camp-wide game. It has been a highly exciting event over the last few years. We will shower before dinner and then enjoy a sit-down meal that is served by our head staff.  Finally, we will head up to campfire one last time to sing some songs, listen to a story, end then hand out our ten-year paddles.  It is going to be quite a day. Always a lot of excitement and emotion.

While I’m thinking of Closing Day, I’d like to pass along a few logistical details. Closing Day on Saturday morning, will run from 9:15 am to 11:15 am. You are welcome to arrive anytime during this window. There are not assigned times for closing day. If previous years are an indication, we expect most parents to arrive before 10:45. If you are running late, give our office a call so we can let your camper know.

Mud Pit Night

Tonight all of camp went out to the Mud Pit for some good dirt and grit event!  If we do not have pictures ready tonight, they will be uploaded tomorrow.  It is always a blast!

I will put up one more post tomorrow night with some final pictures of the session and what to think about on the closing day and the ride home.  I look forward to a quick hello on closing day, Saturday! Look for myself, Zoob, and Woody near the tennis courts after you park.  Safe travels.

All the best,

Don Gentle
