July Sessions Opening Day

I love opening day! For me, I am just as excited to see the parents as I am to see the campers. It sure was a wonderful morning. I enjoy meeting new families and connecting with old friends as well. After over 30 years here at High Rocks, I am even seeing my old campers that are now bringing their children up to High Rocks. It sure is an amazing circle of events. While we only have 3 new campers in the four-week session, over half of the Mini Men are first time campers here. My hope is to make High Rocks their/your home for a few weeks each year just as these four-week families have. It’s a wonderful ride to see these boys grow in just a few weeks. I look forward to sharing all we do each day with you. My hope is that you find the time enjoyable, educational, and helpful.

Activity Sign-Ups

Your boys have picked all of their activities today.  I will send out an email mid-day tomorrow after it all shakes out so you can see what they are doing.  Boys can change their schedules, but most stick with these activities for the entire session since everything follows an important progression.  You can always see your son’s current activities and any trips is has done on https://my.highrocks.com.  This was the forms portal that you did this spring, but if you scroll down your campers page you will see Activities and Trips.  Check it out! You can even see the night they head out on their cabin overnight.

Pure Cabin Fun

These guys all had a little goofy time while getting their cabin pictures this afternoon.  I will talk more about these important groups and how their time together will shape the summer experience.

Some Helpful Details

Images and The High Rocks Gallery

Below tonight’s blog is the link to the High Rocks Gallery. You will notice that our website and picture gallery is very user-friendly on almost any device, including mobile and tablet devices. To get all the details and features like image download, face tagging, and navigation; please check out the notes and details here at  Gallery Help and Highlights.  This gallery is password protected. If you are new to the gallery, you should have received an automated email today with details for your login (check your spam folder).  If you are a returning family, use the email address that you received in the opening day email.  Your password is the same as last year. If you cannot remember, just use the “forgot password” link to retrieve a new one on the login page of the gallery.

If you are interested in the high-resolution download and face tagging subscription, you can still order that for the session.  Just hit up Darby at office@highrocks.com.  She can just put it on your store account. It is $50.00. Use the link above to see all of what you get with this subscription. Basically, it is high-resolution downloads for the year and we will tag your son’s name in images so that you can search for him each day.  Tagging happens the next morning after images are pushed up. So, we are always about a half-day behind. We will tag them and re-push them up by mid-morning.  Even if you decide mid-session, we should be able to get your tags up.

If you have pre-ordered a download/face-tag subscription, Darby will have everyone’s orders/accounts set up tomorrow just in time to catch the face tagging from the previous day.

It may make sense to save the link and log in for your browser for quick access. I will try my best to get the blog up by 9:30 pm each night, but sometimes camp does get in the way, or our rural internet has been quite slow (or even slower). Don’t fret!  We will get you the pictures as soon as we can! We are likely to push up some pictures throughout the day (usually after rest hour), but they will continue to go up until the blog is live.  Once the blog is up, it typically means that pictures are up for the day.

Social Media

Don’t forget to follow us on social media.  We will make it worth your while by putting up a couple of extra pictures and a special video from time to time during the day. Facebook:  Camp High Rocks, and on Instagram. Feel free to throw up some of these great pictures to share on your feed.  We like making High Rocks look good!

Again, be sure to read through the link above about the gallery so you can get the full use of what it can do for you.

Woody, Zoob, and I, along with the entire High Rocks staff, are honored that you have chosen Camp High Rocks for your sons’ personal growth.  We are all here to make sure your son has a great time along the way.  Please let us know if we can help with anything! I will try to capture the day’s events along with some lessons each night, so please tune in to read the details. It is going to be a fun ride!

All the best,

-Don Gentle
