It was so great to meet everyone today. I want to thank all the parents for putting on a brave face during those morning showers. It really was not too bad, but I am sure it made the guys just a little more nervous. I really enjoyed all the excitement during drop off.
We had everyone here pretty quick, which allowed for everyone to get moved-in, and ready for some morning rotations before lunch. We even all got our swim tests in for those who chose to participate.
After a brief orientation, we headed in for a meal of chicken fingers, fresh fruit salad, cut veggies, tossed salad, fries, and sun butter and jelly is another option.
I am so excited to share the wonder of what we do every day. My hope is to capture the moment and let you in on a little of what is happening at High Rocks. I’ll try to include you in on a lesson or two on why things work out the way they do and add some notes on why we do it. As with most writers, some days will be a little better than others and I am certain my proofing will lead to something to be desired. My hope is that you will find the time and energy it takes to get these boys here to High Rocks is worth it and an important part of their development. Now on to some details…
After lunch, everyone hit some crafts (We made tie dyes), shooting sports, and the climbing tower. Choice period was all sorts of fun with a lot of guys on the waterslide but plenty of other options including paddleboards, disc golf, gaga, and some gym time.
Dinner was pasta bar with sauce, corn, peas, salad bar and rice krispie treats for dessert.
Tonight all the boys met in the gym for some epic dodgeball complete with epic theme music. It was a hoot!
Images and The High Rocks Gallery
Below tonight’s blog is the link to the High Rocks Gallery. You will notice that our website and picture gallery is very user-friendly on almost any device, including mobile and tablet devices. To get all the details and features like image download, face tagging, and navigation; please check out the notes and details here at Gallery Help and Highlights. This gallery is password protected. If you are new to the gallery, you should have received an automated email today with details for your login (check your spam folder). If you are a returning family, use the email address that you received in the opening day email. Your password is the same as last year. If you cannot remember, just use the “forgot password” link to retrieve a new one on the login page of the gallery.
If you are interested in the high-resolution download and face tagging subscription, you can still order that for the session. Just hit up Darby at office@highrocks.com. She can just put it on your store account. It is $50.00. Use the link above to see all of what you get with this subscription. Basically, it is high-resolution downloads for the year and we will tag your son’s name in images so that you can search for him each day. Tagging happens the next morning after images are pushed up. So, we are always about a half-day behind. We will tag them and re-push them up by mid-morning. Even if you decide mid-session, we should be able to get your tags up.
If you have pre-ordered a download/face-tag subscription, Darby will have everyone’s orders/accounts set up tomorrow just in time to catch the face tagging from the previous day.
It may make sense to save the link and log in for your browser for quick access. I will try my best to get the blog up by 9:30 pm each night, but sometimes camp does get in the way, or our rural internet has been quite slow (or even slower). Don’t fret! We will get you the pictures as soon as we can! We are likely to push up some pictures throughout the day (usually after rest hour), but they will continue to go up until the blog is live. Once the blog is up, it typically means that pictures are up for the day.
Social Media
Don’t forget to follow us on social media. We will make it worth your while by putting up a couple of extra pictures and a special video from time to time during the day. Facebook: Camp High Rocks, and on Instagram. Feel free to throw up some of these great pictures to share on your feed. We like making High Rocks look good!
Again, be sure to read through the link above about the gallery so you can get the full use of what it can do for you.
It is an honor and a privilege to host your son here at High Rocks. We will do our best to give him the best possible experience summer camp has to offer. If you ever need anything, please reach out. It is going to be an amazing week!

PS. If you are having issues with logging into the gallery, please email me: don@highrocks.com. I will get you there and I will be on later tonight too.
