Camp High Rocks Blog

These cool mornings have been a wonderful moment for me this summer.  While some might cringe at a 50-degree morning, I love the cool mountain air!  Just a moment or two out on the back deck to look over the lake and hear the stillness of camp before the chaos begins.  It’s not quiet.  The wildlife abounds. Most of theRead More »
I enjoyed hearing the first wake-up bell of the session ring this morning.  In recent years it has been immediately followed by an energetic “GOOD MORNING HIGH ROCKS.”  It’s been something of a modern tradition that has caught on over the years.  The most excited person lately has been Nate our Camp Chef and kitchen manager.  He loves to get outRead More »

Inside, the nervousnessRead More »
Time sure flies in just one week.  I know you are excited to see your boys, but it seems like they only arrived yesterday.  The boys wandered in this morning with a wonderful greasy, ashen, marshmallow look about them. I think I even saw a few specks of tomato sauce in the corners of their mouths. All reports were good!Read More »
It was another fantastic day at High Rocks! The boys are still working hard to make it to breakfast on time, but that means they are working hard with their cabin clean-up. It is a true adventure here every day.  Some of the time just getting ready for the day is an adventure.  I enjoyed cruising through the cabins during clean-up time this morning. Many of the young guys are doing their best to just get their clothes on straight, let alone get the bed made and help out with group chores.  WhatRead More »
It sure was fun waking up to a whole new group of excited boys! Another cool day on the mountain here at High Rocks.  It has been perfect “athletic” weather this week. What a great day! Our boys are in such a groove right now. I enjoy seeing the boys making their own adventures as they head to their activities.
